Anne and her family moved to Amsterdam in 1933 after the Nazis gained power in Germany. As persecutions against the Jewish population increased, the family went into hiding in July 1942 in hidden rooms in her father Otto Frank's office building. After two years, the group was betrayed and transported to concentration camps. Seven months after her arrest, Anne Frank died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. 

On Anne's 13th birthday she was given a diary. Her diary chronicles her life from June 12, 1942 until August 1, 1944. It has been translated into many languages, has become one of the world's most widely read books, and has been the basis for several plays and films. Anne Frank has been acknowledged for the quality of her writing, and has become one of the most renowned and discussed of Holocaust victims.

 

In this activity you are to take on the role of Anne Frank, The year is 1942 and you just received a new diary for your 13th birthday. Here is the diary:

   

    In this activity  you have learned how the  prejudice had on effect the Jewish people. You have learned about how Anne Frank and millions of other Jewish people died as a result of the Holocaust.

    On January 27th of each day people around the world set a day of remembrance of the Holocaust. This day is  called Holocaust Remembrance Day. It is a day the countries of the world remember the many people that died in the Holocaust.

    What lessons can we learn from the Holocaust?

    How can we prevent another Holocaust  from ever happening again?
