This activity is anchored on 8th Grade Social Studies and English Language Arts. In this activity the students will be able to make their own inferences on the impact of the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights Movement on American culture.

In Social Studies the students will learn how the Civil Rights movement placed a focus on equality and democracy on the American culture.

1 . The students will learn about important executive and judicial decisions that supported equal rights

2 . The students will learn how the impact of Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (1954) overturned legal basis of segregation.

3 . The students will learn how activists and leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. developed strategies to secure civil rights for African - Americans.

4. The students will learn how Jim Crow Laws effected African American culture. The students will learn how African Americans expressed their feelings  towards Jim Crow Laws.

5. The students will learn how the Harlem Renaissance changed African American Culture.
