In Social Studies the students will learn how the Civil Rights movement placed a focus on equality and democracy on the American culture.

1 . The students will learn how the impact of Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (1954) overturned legal basis of segregation.

2 . The students will learn how leaders such as Thurgood Marshall developed strategies to secure civil rights in education for all    African -Americans.

3. The students will learn how Jim Crow Laws effected African American culture. The students will learn how African Americans expressed their feelings towards Jim Crow Laws.

4. The students will learn if school desegregation has solved the problems in equality in education for African-Americans.
